Organizing Manager
SUMMARY
Lauren Underwood for Congress (LUFC) is seeking an experienced Organizing Manager who will live in IL-14 and be responsible for directing the day-to-day organizing operations for the primary and general election. This person will be responsible for planning and executing the campaign field plan, potentially managing interns, and are accountable for all quantitative and qualitative metrics. The Organizing Manager is also responsible for maintaining a small field office during the week. The Organizing Manager will be managed by the campaign Senior Advisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Managing petition signature collection process to ensure ballot access
- Developing and implementing an in-district organizing plan to mobilize low-turnout Democratic voters
- Managing a team of Neighborhood Ambassadors to build up a strong volunteer program, conduct voter contact, and host events
- Hiring and managing organizing interns and volunteers
- Developing strong relationships with local party leaders, grassroots organizers, and key activists
- Coordinating regularly with campaign leadership so that the organizing program is supported by and integrated into the overall campaign strategy
- Working closely with the campaign social media team to identify storytellers and find creative ways to tell the campaign story online
- Building and implementing systems and structures to successfully meet daily, weekly, and phase goals for capacity building and voter contact, as well as maintain data integrity
- Other department responsibilities as needed
REQUIREMENTS
- At least 2 cycles of campaign organizing experience
- Prior experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers on electoral or issue campaigns in a paid staff capacity is required
- Proficiency in VAN, Google Docs, and MobilizeAmerica
- Familiarity with peer-to-peer texting, relational, and dialer tools
- Experience developing, training and empowering volunteers
- Strong ability to build relationships and foster a positive team culture
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure and problem solve effectively and creatively
- Access to a vehicle or other, reliable means of transportation, and be based in and/or relocate to IL-14
- Proactively fosters an inclusive atmosphere and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
- Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant and productive ways
- Preference will be given to Spanish-speaking applicants
SALARY
Salary is $5,500.00/month + 100% fully paid health care plan with dental and vision.
