Congresswoman Lauren Underwood represents Illinois’ 14th Congressional District, a suburban, exurban, and rural district in Northern Illinois. She flipped this seat from red to blue in a historic fashion in 2018, defeating a four-term Republican incumbent, and is the youngest black woman to ever be elected to the Congress.
Representing Illinois' 14th Congressional District
Lauren’s working for a better future for our communities.
-
As a registered nurse, public health expert, and a woman with a pre-existing heart condition, Lauren’s number one priority in Congress is ensuring access to high-quality, affordable health care for our families and eliminating cost barriers to care.
-
Lauren supports women’s rights to the full range of reproductive health services, without restrictions. This includes access to safe, legal, and affordable abortions.
-
No child should fear for their life at school. No worker should fear a mass shooting at their job. Weapons of war don’t belong in our neighborhoods. Gun violence prevention is a public health issue, and Lauren believes that Congress must respond accordingly with data-driven, evidence-based policies.
